Why our Wave Bowl?

Our Wave Bowl is a truly unique design, capturing the raw power and movement of a tsunami wave frozen in glass. The piece features a substantial, chunky clear base that grounds the design, while a dramatic spiralling wave rises through the bowl, giving the impression of energy in motion. Creating this form requires exceptional skill and precision. During the glassblowing process, the bowl must be carefully flipped overhead while still molten, allowing the wave to form and settle naturally within the glass.

"Bought a fantastic centrepiece from here a few weeks ago. We were offered a tour of the workspace and Stewart showed us the different colour bars and powders, he explained the glass blowing process to us and told us his personal journey to where he is today."

Frequently Asked Questions

Check below common FAQ's.

Is every Wave Bowl the same?

No. Each Wave Bowl is individually hand-blown, which means no two pieces are ever identical. Subtle variations in the flow of the wave, the spiral movement, and the glass thickness are part of the process and are what make each bowl truly one of a kind.

How is the wave formed inside the bowl?

The wave is created while the glass is molten using a highly skilled glassblowing technique. At a critical stage, the bowl is carefully flipped overhead, allowing the spiralling wave to form and settle naturally within the glass.

Is the Wave Bowl functional or purely decorative?

The Wave Bowl can be used as a decorative centrepiece or as a functional bowl. However, due to its sculptural form and hand-blown nature, many customers choose to display it as an art piece where the movement and depth of the wave can be fully appreciated.
